What it costs you to run — UK
| Electricity | about £21 a year |
| Filters — one 20x25x1 pair | from £58 a year |
| Together | about £79 a year |
Source: electricity from this model’s EPA ENERGY STAR certified listing — 81 kWh a year — at the October 2026 UK price cap of 26.32p per kWh. Filters at our own UK price.
Around 6p a day of electricity, plus genuine 3M Filtrete MERV-13 in a standard size you can buy anywhere — not a proprietary cartridge. With pets the filters fill faster, so budget for a change every 4–6 months.

Yearly cost to run with filters included, not electricity alone. The Luggable XL is the dearest of the four to buy and the cheapest to own.
| Model | Electricity + filters, a year |
| Luggable XL Ultra | $72.29 |
| Levoit Vital 200S | $121.45 |
| Winix 5510 | $166.51 |
| AirFanta 3Pro | $187.34 |

Over three years it comes out cheapest of the four even after the higher purchase price — paying that difference back in about 15 months against the Winix and the AirFanta.
Filtrete is made in the United States, so filters cost less there than here once shipping, duties and VAT are added — which is why our UK figure above is higher. That applies to every unit in the table, not only ours.
Why Pet Owners Choose Luggable
Pet dander is 10× smaller than a human hair. Standard vacuum filters miss it entirely. MERV-13 catches even the microscopic particles that trigger asthma and allergies — comparable to HEPA.
Removes Dander & Odours Fast
MERV-13 captures pet dander, hair, and allergens down to 0.3 microns. Fresher air in under 20 minutes. No sprays, no masking — real filtration.
HEPA-comparable capture
Covers the Whole Room
Unique side-fan design projects clean air to the room centre. Dander from corners and under furniture gets caught — not just the air near the unit.
Suggested room size 516 sq ft
Won’t Scare Your Pets
35 dB on low — quieter than a conversation. Dogs, cats, and birds quickly ignore it. No ozone, no ioniser — 100% mechanical. Safe for all animals.
Bird-safe — no ozone
Clean Air Habits for Pet Owners
- Run the purifier in the room your pet spends most time — living room or bedroom, wherever dander accumulates most
- Keep it running 24/7 on low — dander builds up constantly; continuous filtration beats intermittent blasts
- Groom pets outdoors when possible — reduces the volume of loose hair and dander entering your home
- Wash pet bedding weekly — the purifier cleans the air, but fabric traps allergens too
- Replace filters every 4–6 months — pets shed more than humans; filters fill up faster
- Place near the pet’s favourite spot — the closer to the source, the faster it captures dander before it spreads
Pet Owner FAQs
What’s the best air purifier for pet owners in the UK?
The Luggable XL Ultra. Its 622 m³/h clean-air delivery tackles pet dander, hair and odours across a room of up to 516 sq ft. MERV-13 captures pet allergens down to 0.3 microns — comparable to HEPA. Quiet 35 dB operation won’t disturb your pets.
Do air purifiers remove pet odours?
The MERV-13 units capture particles rather than odour molecules. For litter box smell, wet dog or general pet odours, the Luggable Carbon adds an activated-carbon stage, which is what adsorbs odours.
Is it safe to use around birds?
Yes. The Luggable uses only mechanical filtration — no ozone, no ioniser — making it completely safe for birds and other sensitive animals. It removes feather dust and dander without releasing harmful byproducts.
How often should I change filters with pets?
Every 4–6 months with pets vs. 6–12 months standard. Pets shed more than people, so the filters fill up faster. They are standard 3M Filtrete MERV-13 — no proprietary cartridges.
